One man saw a sign, another gone to cry
Third man began to wait a perfect light and day.
The others gone so far through a mountain range
The Winter turned them all into ice.
Wherever light brings that faults
She here the only north calls
The sacramental of a snow
Put to rest them all.
Above a crystal lake falls frosen tears of rain
Far peals of fallen clumps shakes a tinkling air
it seems that stars in the night came closer to the ground
Ice bound eternity, unknown mistery.
Wherever light brings that faults
She here the only north calls
The sacramental of a snow
Put to rest them all.
Hear the song of this winter
She is a queen of this distant lands
Sons of a northern power
Here we are and here we stand.
The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
Gorgeous blackened death-doom with powerful melodic moments and a truly enthralling atmosphere. I recommend this even if you don't usually go in for slower-paced metal, these guys are absolute masters of holding your attention. Slut Aus Nord
Another scorcher from the phenomenal one-man black metal outfit STARER, with mind-flaying riffs and eerie tremolo-picked melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 31, 2023
Crushing blackened doom from this German band that counterbalances blinding fury with moments of surprising, melancholy melody. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 8, 2023
Sorrowful indeed. Utterly beautiful blackened doom metal with melody that draws out a cathartic release. Its works like these that have me believe what Schopenhauer said about music was true, that it speaks truth to what is at our most core. Camelus Dromedarius
